Believe it or not, finding the right spouse could make you smarter.
Researchers Warner Schaie and Sherry Willis have done a great deal of work in the areas of aging and cognition, and they’ve reported the following in their publication Mind Alert:
“In our study, we followed a number of married couples over a long period of time. It turns out that married couples’ intellectual performance converges over time: the spouse with lower cognitive functioning early in the marriage moves in the direction of the higher-functioning spouse, cognitively speaking. So the bottom line is that you should marry someone who’s smarter than you are.”
Your spouse can be good (or bad) for your mental health!”

There’s good news for young adults who love to sleep in.
A study at the University of Toronto tested self-reported alertness against working memory trials and body temperature (an objective measure of readiness). In the morning, seniors’ working memories trumped those of young adults, aligning with their own assessments of when they were at their best mentally.
As the day wore on, however, the young adults gained the upper hand in working memory usage. The young adults were actually at their best mentally in the late night hours. Attention and verbal articulation seemed to be affected by the time of day as well.
While it might fly in the face of established parental attitudes, allowing a young adult to sleep in might enable him to be more productive!”

Há pouco tempo, um homem percebeu que havia pessoas dentro da sua garagem, em Lisboa, a roubar. Ligou para o 112, atendeu a polícia, mas disseram que não havia ninguém por perto para ajudar e que mandariam alguém assim que possível. Desligou.
Uns minutos depois, ligou novamente e disse: ‘Olá, eu liguei há bocado porque estavam pessoas a assaltar a minha garagem. Já não é preciso virem depressa, porque eu matei-os’.
Passado pouco tempo, estavam meia dúzia de carros da polícia na área, uma ambulância e uma unidade do INEM. Os ladrões foram apanhados em flagrante.
Um dos polícias disse:
- ‘Pensei que tivesse dito que os tinha morto!’
Ao que o senhor respondeu:
- ‘Pensei que tinham dito que não havia ninguém disponível.’
É assim. Quando precisarem, já sabem….
